“The best film about addiction since Requiem for a Dream.” — Film Threat

Inspired by true events and the lived experience of writer/director Aaron Strand, Withdrawal is a raw, unflinching, and surprisingly hopeful examination of love and codependency in the face of the opioid crisis. Shot entirely in Athens, GA, with a local cast and crew, the film follows two star-crossed artists—Viv (Millie Rose Evans), a passionate singer-songwriter, and Jay (Brent Michal), a rebellious street painter—who are trapped in a destructive cycle of heroin addiction.

When Viv’s conservative parents threaten to send her to rehab, the couple makes a desperate, last-ditch pact: to kick the habit cold turkey, together, overnight in their apartment. What follows is a harrowing 24-hour journey through physical and emotional torment, punctuated by fractured memories of how their romance first began and the lies they've told themselves to survive.

With 12 major awards from festivals worldwide—including Best Narrative Feature at the Athens Film Festival—this micro-budget triumph has been hailed for its "punk energy" and "jarringly realistic" performances. Don't miss this chance to see the "Athens movie" everyone is talking about on the big screen.
